Criminal Defense

At the commencement of his legal career, Loren Lambert learned early the importance of an aggressive and thorough defense of individuals charged with committing crimes. He first clerked for Judge Ray Harding Sr. of the Fourth Judicial District in Utah. In this position, he not only was able to experience from the inside how one of Utah's most respected Judges presided over major criminal prosecutions, but was also able to learn from some of Utah's premier criminal defense attorneys. In this role, he was privy to the Judge's decision making process, and, in many criminal defense issues, often assisted the Judge in researching and then drafting his rulings and decisions. He then joined the United States Army as a military attorney (Judge Advocate General or JAG). While in the military, he defended hundreds of soldiers in Article Fifteens, Administrative Separation Boards, and Military Courts-Martial. In so doing, he had one of the highest acquittal rates and retention rates when compared to his fellow military attorneys, and gained a reputation for often achieving what was thought to be the impossible. He successfully defended soldiers charged with drug offenses, assaults, sexual offenses, theft, awol, and disobedience to orders. Early on, he learned what it took to successfully investigate a case, and to then take it to trial and win with military juries composed of senior officers and NCOs. He also had the uncanny ability of being able to determine how a judge and jury would view the facts and evidence of the case, and could often thereby predict the outcome, which enabled him to either obtain the most advantageous plea negotiations, or to win at trial when the prosecution took an unreasonable stance. Defending soldiers is one of the most difficult venues to work in, because, to be successful, a defense counsel must, on the one hand work within the military system, but still "rock the military boat" to obtain information from soldiers who fear retaliation for their superiors and fellow soldiers. Despite this, Loren Lambert thrived as a military defense attorney.Upon leaving the military, he has applied these same skills defending civilians. He rarely loses a trial, and has gained acquittals in many felony and misdemeanor cases with charges of assault, child abuse, shaken-baby assault, sexual battery, drug offenses, drinking while driving, domestic assault, and various other charges. He always strives to ensure that no innocent person is convicted on his watch, and that the sentence always fits the crime. He offers both set fee rates and hourly rates.
